Description: This class combines "Watercolor Simplified Plein Air" and "Plein Air - All Media" classes taught by Deena Ball. The morning session is introductory, catering to all artistic mediums. You will do preliminary work that's adaptable to any medium. Actual painting will happen in the afternoon session. You will learn to simplify landscape and create a painting plan by working from life outside. You will also learn principles to apply during the afternoon painting session. The afternoon session, for any medium, continues the morning's lesson, and is designed for beginners to advanced students. You should know how to use your chosen medium (the instructor can assist with oils and watercolors). The session will include two short demos: one with water-mixable oils on oil paper, and another with watercolors. Students select a subject, plan their painting using tools discussed in the morning session (such as notans, value studies, color proportional squares, and directional lines), and then have time to complete a painting. The goal is to create a painting that captures the feeling of the day in your own style. About Deena Ball: Deena Ball is a nationally renowned landscape painter.
