She resides on a property steeped in history, where she and her husband are gradually creating a more sustainable landscape for wildlife and themselves, eliminating invasive plants and planting vegetable gardens, fruit trees, and native flora. Deena earned a BA in Art History and Studio Art from Colby College and has taught and exhibited her artwork across the country. Deena served as president of the Philadelphia Watercolor Society and held board positions with both that organization and the Delaware Valley Art League for many years. She also has a strong history of partnering with land trusts to connect local artists with the land and its natural beauty. Recently, Deena has won several awards. Her painting "Exuberance" was selected by David Ethridge (Gallery 1261) as the Floral Honorable Mention recipient for the August Plein Air Salon Art Competition. Her painting Quiet on the El-Covid 19 was selected as a top 100 finalist by T. Allen Lawson in the March 2024 Plein Air Salon. Deena’s painting “Rushing In” received a Jurors award at the Maine Art Gallery event Paint It! Wiscasset, Maine. You can find out more on her website: deenasball.com/
